MicroFit Process

Step by Step MicroFIT Process
1. Register business/farm
Do this on the OPA (Ontario Power Authority) Website under the MicroFIT heading (www.powerauthority.on.ca)

2. Log in/fill in application
You will receive a response by email from the OPA. Fill out an application for each property where you intend to install a MicroFIT project. (You will need the hydro account number for each of the projects you apply for.) You are allowed only one project per property - either microFIT or FIT project. (Typically it takes anywhere from 30-60 days to receive your conditional offer contract from OPA - once you receive this conditional offer you will have 1 year to have your project installed and connected to the grid)

3. Contact local hydro distribution company
Now inform your local hydro company of your intention to install a MicroFIT generation project. They will direct you to complete Form C Micro Generation Application (This form aids your local hydro provider in arranging the production meter which will be used on your property as well it will trigger an invoice for your connection fee) (For Hydro One click HERE then open "Micro-Generation Connection Application Form" (Form C) on item #4
